What should I expect during my appointment?
Please arrive on time for your session. I will greet you at the front door and lead you into the massage room. Here we will discuss the client history form you filled out online and discuss your needs for the session. This opportunity will help me take a personal approach to set up the treatment plan necessary for you. I will then explain to you what will be happening during your session and then leave the room so you can disrobe and lay on the massage table, under the sheet and blanket.
You will have complete privacy while dressing and undressing. You will be covered with a sheet at all times with only the body part I am working on exposed. Most clients will remove their outer and undergarments. However, I want to work with your level of comfort so I will meet your needs wherever they may be. I will knock before re-entering the room. Please inform me of any changes that need to be made to make your session more comfortable. Open communication is welcome and will make your experience a more relaxing and enjoyable one.
Should I talk during the massage?
Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their session. Feel free to ask me questions about massage and bodywork in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
How long will the session last?
The average full-body massage or bodywork session lasts approximately one hour, added time allows for more specific work. A half-hour appointment only permits time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet.
What happens after my massage?
After your massage is complete, I will leave the room, wash my hands and return to the room once you are dressed and have opened the door. We can discuss your session and develop a future treatment plan, if desired. I may send you home with instructions for stretches and/or exercises which, when practiced, will assist in you meeting your treatment goals. Massage can both stimulate and relax your body/mind. You may experience a variety of sensations, both emotional and physical. Allow yourself to simply be with whatever sensations arise.
How often should I get a massage?
How often you get a massage depends on many factors. These include your general health, the reason for getting a massage, how you felt after your last session, your time, and of course, your budget. Getting a massage can do you a world of good. And getting massage frequently can do even more. This is the beauty of bodywork. Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you'll be and how youthful you'll remain with each passing year. Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health. And remember: just because massage feels like a pampering treat doesn't mean it is any less therapeutic. Consider massage appointments a necessary piece of your health and wellness plan.
Do you offer weekend and evening appointments?
At this time by appointment only.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why before you begin your session, you are asked general health questions. It is very important that you inform me of any health problems or medications you are taking.
When do I pay for the services?
Payment is expected at the time of service. Cash, checks & credit cards are accepted. You may pay before the session or after. It’s up to you. Tips are appreciated, but not expected or required. Referrals are the very best tip you can give me!
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
There is typically a 24-hour cancellation policy.
